Hints of history

La Bertrounié's first mention appears on the registers of Lautrec dioceses in 1619. It seems that it was then a mere smallholding of the Chateau de Castelpers owners. Then a church was edificated by the end of the 18th century, which shows that many families had come to live there. Essentially consisting in self sufficient polyculture  (cattle, poultry, cereals, vegetables) the economy is said to have been locally renowned  for its production of fat ducks. Then with the fifties and the rural exodus, its population decreased almost to none and its school lost all its children. Today the one and only peasant who still remains cultivates all the fields letf by the gone away, whose farms have been transformed into second homes.
